Mr. James Baraka started Baratex Enterprises in 1996 and initially, he marketed Rastafari attires. Clothing materials and accessories that made up the Rastafari attires are a great source of pride to the followers of this movement. The clothing symbolize the African culture and tradition and its place in the world. The sale of these clothing items was well received by the customers and the business gained a very good reputation.

Mr. Baraka started this business with the intention of providing employment to the unemployed. Over time, he also hopes to expand and extend the success of this venture to other parts of East Africa. Having started by making Rastafari attires, he has now diversified into other more generic clothing items and accessories. He also hopes to work in the tourism industry, which would enable him to export his products to regions outside Africa.
